Steamed Chicken Momos
Hand-folded dumplings filled with seasoned chicken, ginger, scallion and aroma…
A family kitchen serving Himalayan momos, wok-fired noodles and honest Asian comfort food across New York, Virginia and Texas. No shortcuts, no freezer — just good food made the way we grew up eating it.
In 2013 our family opened a twelve-seat counter with a single bamboo steamer, a borrowed wok and a momo recipe carried from a kitchen in Pokhara. We could not afford a sign, so people found us by the smell of the achar.
Thirteen years later the steamers are bigger and there are three dining rooms, but almost nothing else has changed. We still make every wrapper by hand. We still simmer the jhol broth for four hours. And we still believe a plate of momos should feel like someone cooked for you, not at you.
Still run day to day by the family who opened it.
Produce delivered six days a week, never frozen.
The plates our regulars order without looking at the menu.
Hand-folded dumplings filled with seasoned chicken, ginger, scallion and aroma…
Eight steamed chicken momos swimming in a warm, tangy sesame-tomato jhol broth…
Wok-tossed chicken with onion, bell pepper and green chili in a glossy soy-chi…
Cold-tossed noodles in a creamy chili-peanut sauce with cucumber and cilantro.
We are not trying to reinvent the momo. We are trying to make the best one you have had this year, and then make it exactly the same way tomorrow.
Explore the MenuEvery momo is pleated by a person, not a machine. You can see it in the wrapper.

“I have eaten a lot of dumplings in this city and the jhol momos at Food House are in a league of their own. That broth is worth the trip alone. We now come every other Friday.”
“Took my parents here for their anniversary and the team could not have been kinder. Food came out fast, hot and beautifully plated. The sesame honey chicken disappeared in minutes.”
“Finally a place where the vegetarian menu is not an afterthought. The paneer momos and the crispy cauliflower are genuinely excellent, not just “good for veggie.””
Our flagship kitchen sits on Bleecker Street in the West Village, with sister restaurants in Arlington, Virginia and Richardson, Texas.
